The list is so quiet I'm wondering if there's a malfunction. Perhaps you
are all off enjoying the summer (how latitudist of me to assume it's summer
where you are, I know.)

This message is just a reminder we're due to start discussing _Wild Seed_
by Octavia Butler this coming Monday (August 2nd).

As always the latest info about our organized discussions is available here:

<SPOILERS>

I managed to find a copy at a wonderful used book store. What an
interesting book and great characters. I loved Sparrow-- tough yet
vulnerable, canny and naive.

I also liked the combination of mysticism and science fiction. That a
genetically engineered human can be awakened by the loa to perform a task
for them delighted me. I enjoyed the way magic and science mingled in this
future world.

I know I didn't get all the references, this is one of those books that
can stand repeat readings. I get the feeling that I will always find
something new at every reading.
