I just finished Nicola's newest one, _Stay_, and have to tell you all it's great! I happen to know that Nicola went through five full rewrites... and the result is superb. It's not SF; more like an adventure/ mystery combo. If you read _The Blue Place_ a few years back, this is the sequel, in which Aud goes on with her "interesting" life after the loss of her beloved Julia. When I finished Blue Place, I really wanted to know how Aud was going to survive the pain. Now I do, and I'm still hoping to hear more, much more, about her... No doubt Nicola will oblige in due time. ;-) And here's the schedule: =========================================================== On Thu, 11 Apr 2002 08:58:09 -0700, "Cynthia Ward" wrote on [broaduniverse]: >Since there are several Nicola Griffith fans on the list, >I thought I would forward this list of her bookstore >appearances. > >I'm planning to go to the signing on the 24th. She was very responsive when I bought mine and wrote a nice note to accompany it. It's nice to have a bit more to examine when contemplating the possibility of a women's language. http://www.sfwa.org/members/Elgin/ ========================================================================= Date: Sun, 28 Apr 2002 14:19:00 +0100 Reply-To: friendly STRICTLY ON TOPIC discussion of Feminist SF/Fantasy and Utopia Sender: friendly STRICTLY ON TOPIC discussion of Feminist SF/Fantasy and Utopia From: Angela Barclay Subject: upcoming discussions Comments: To: FEMINISTSF-LIT@uic.edu Mime-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit Our upcoming book discussions are: Suzette Haden Elgin's _Native Tongue_ (May 6 - June 2) Marge Piercy's _Woman on the Edge of Time_ (June 3 - June 30) In the week that remains before the _Native Tongue_ discussion begins don't hesitate to regenerate the discussion of _The Dispossessed_. Are there any listmembers who have written papers on _The Dispossessed_ or other works of Le Guin they'd be willing to share with us?
