Yes, in fact the day before yesterday I was going through a catalog of books
for Early Childhood Education teachers and I saw one called Brown Girl in
the Ring and Other Afro-Caribbean Action Rhymes, or some such, which is
what made me think of your book.

This is true, of course. My earlier post was something of an
exaggeration, although an exaggeration based on fact. The classier
publishing houses and editors are likely to be more flexible, particularly
when dealing with a book that they see as literary or somewhat cross-genre.
Name authors are also likely to get more leeway with their titles.
