Ancient Shores, by Jack McDevitt, is about the contemporary American farm
family from the Dakotas (whose land is probably under water right now)
who accidentally dig up what looks to be a sailboat. It was obviously
abandoned on Earth millions of years ago, but its super high technology.
The book features guest appearances by a number of famous scientists and
sf writers, including Le Guin, Sagan, Hawking and Benford.
