I missed some of this thread because my computer was in the hospital
having heart surgery following a near-fatal viral infection, but has
anyone mentioned Slonczewski's Daughter of Elysium in conjunction with
this topic? I'm particularly fond of it because of its portrayal of a
culture where no one man is considered properly dressed unless he's
got a baby on his back, an experience I went through myself a few years back.
