Well Kate, since you asked, I'm Emilie Falc a grad student in Rhetorical and
Feminist Theory who also teaches public speaking, communication theory, and
interpersonal communication. I got interested in reading SF when I spotted The
Crystal Singer by Anne McCaffrey on the library bookshelf. Now I know that some
feminists don't consider McCaffrey's female characters to be really liberated,
but at the time I liked reading about a woman who had a career and a few love
interests in her adventurous life. I've since enjoyed many other SF books by
women writers one of my favorites has been the Fifth Sacred Thing by Starhawk.
I look forward to reading Walking to Mercury as soon as I finish the
dissertation.
