"Hideous Strength" (1945?) has an evil lesbian who enjoys burning people
with cigarettes. Also polemics on the subject of marriage - Lewis believed
that a wife should obey her husband.
But I love the man's imagination - if you want to read about the joy,
delight and sheer wonder of visiting a strange planet try "Out of the
Silent Planet" - I don't think it's ever been done better. Silent Planet
also has a great line in anti-colonisation.
