It's not really sf, or only rarely, but the comic "Love and Rockets" by
the Hernandez brothers has a main female character who goes from thin to
stocky throughout the course of the series, and I loved the running
sub-plot of her dealing with that. What I really liked was how often it
wasn't an issue at all, contrasted with the times that it has a negative
impact on her life.
